GIS Technician

Utility GIS, application development and workflow automation.
Responsibilities
- Create, maintain and analyse maps and spatial datasets for operations, planning, engineering and asset management.
- Develop custom GIS applications, ArcGIS Pro tools and Python toolboxes for operational needs.
- Write Python scripts to automate data processing, quality control, reporting and recurring workflows.
- Build, maintain and troubleshoot FME Form and FME Flow workspaces for data integration, validation, transformation and automation.
- Build Web GIS applications with ArcGIS Experience Builder, Web AppBuilder and JavaScript, and create dashboards with ArcGIS Dashboards and Power BI.
- Work with Utility Network datasets, network tracing, utility asset workflows, versioned editing and branch versioning.
- Integrate enterprise databases, web services, APIs and third-party data; perform spatial analysis and geoprocessing.
- Apply machine learning, AI and custom AI agents to data analysis and workflow automation.
- Produce cartographic products that follow mapping standards, and write technical documentation, workflow guides and training materials.
- Previous responsibilities included updating data from as-built documents and engineering drawings, checking data integrity and maintaining the connected utility model.
- A 12-month period of Senior GIS Technician experience included internal and external QA/QC, communicating ATCO requirements to vendors and contributing process improvements.
